Taxi advertising costs

What taxi advertising costs

Published guide rates for every format and fleet, what they include, and how campaign package pricing works.

How pricing works

Guide rates, then a package.

Taxi advertising is quoted per taxi. Supersides are priced over four weeks, and Full Wraps over a month or three months depending on the fleet — so the rate always comes with the period it covers, and the two are worth reading together.

Those published rates are guide rates. They are the right number for understanding what a format costs and how the two compare, and the right tool for sizing an idea before you talk to anyone.

They are not how most campaigns are actually bought. In practice we plan a campaign as a package and quote against it. Package pricing can be considerably more competitive than the per-taxi rate, which is why multiplying a guide rate by the fleet you want gives you a planning ceiling rather than a quote.

What the rate covers

Printing and installation included.

Getting your advertising designed onto the vehicle and fitted is part of the published rate rather than a separate production invoice.

  • Printing
  • Installation
  • Artwork proofing before print
  • Photographic evidence of the installed campaign
  • Interior Tip Seat advertising

For selected campaigns, we can also arrange campaign photography at iconic London locations. Ask us when you brief the campaign and we will tell you what is possible.

And what is not

VAT

All published rates exclude VAT, which is added at the prevailing rate on invoice.

Creating the artwork

The concept, copy and design come from you or from your agency. We are a media owner and production partner rather than a creative agency.

Media beyond the taxi

The rate covers the vehicles on your campaign. Supporting activity in other channels sits outside it.

What the rate buys

Artwork to photographic evidence.

The published rate covers a managed production process, not just space on a vehicle.

Artwork & Creative Guide
  1. Artwork

You build your creative onto the production template for your format and cab type. We supply the template.

  2. Proof

We proof the artwork against the production panels and come back to you. Nothing goes to print without your sign-off.

  3. Print

Printed on materials approved for licensed vehicles. Printing is included in the published rate.

  4. Installation

Fitted at approved depots and scheduled around driver shifts. Installation is included in the rate.

  1. Photographic evidence

You receive photographic evidence of the installed campaign, so you can see the vehicles carrying your creative.

Taxi Supersides

How much do Taxi Supersides cost?

£750 + VAT per taxi, per 4 weeks, on either fleet — the published rate is the same whether the panels run on Premium or Classic black cabs. Minimum booking is 10 taxis.

Taxi Full Wraps

How much does a taxi Full Wrap cost?

Wraps are the one place the two fleets are priced differently, and the two rates are quoted over different periods — so read the period alongside the figure.

About Taxi Full Wraps

Taxi Full Wrap · Classic Black Cab

The entire exterior of the traditional London taxi, quoted over a three-month period.

£3,750 + VATper taxi, per 3 months
No stated minimum

Taxi Full Wrap · Premium Black Cab

The entire exterior of the electric black cab, quoted monthly.

£4,750 + VATper taxi, per month
No stated minimum

All rates exclude VAT. Published rates include printing and installation.

A Classic Black Cab wrap is published over three months and a Premium Black Cab wrap monthly, which reflects how each is typically booked rather than a difference in what you get. If you are comparing the two, ask us to quote both against the same campaign length — that is the only comparison that means anything.

Campaign packages

How campaign pricing actually works.

Most advertisers do not buy taxis one at a time at the published rate. They brief a campaign, and we price it as a package.

The rates above are published guide rates. They exist so you can understand roughly what each format costs and how the two compare, and they are the right number to work from if you are sizing an idea.

They are not how most campaigns are actually bought. In practice we plan a campaign as a package and quote against it, taking account of the fleet size, how long the campaign runs, the format, the mix of vehicles and what is genuinely available for your dates.

Package pricing can be considerably more competitive than the published per-taxi rate. So multiplying a guide rate by the number of taxis you want will give you a workable ceiling for planning, but it is not the figure we would quote for a planned campaign — ask us and the real number is usually better.

What a package is priced against
  • Fleet size
  • Campaign duration
  • Advertising format
  • Fleet mix across Premium and Classic cabs
  • Campaign requirements
  • Availability for your dates

Send us the campaign you have in mind and we will price it properly, rather than quoting you the guide rate multiplied by a fleet size.

What affects the price

Six things that move a quote.

These are the factors a package is built around, and the reasons two campaigns of the same length can be priced quite differently.

Format

A Full Wrap covers the whole vehicle and takes far more material and fitting time than a pair of side panels, which is why the published rates sit so far apart. Supersides put more vehicles on the road for the same money.

Fleet size

The published rate is a per-taxi guide rate. Campaigns are usually planned as packages, and a larger fleet is one of the main reasons a package comes back more competitive than the guide rate suggests.

Campaign duration

Printing and installation are one-off costs whatever the length of the run, so a longer campaign spreads them further. Duration is one of the factors a package is priced against.

Fleet mix

Premium and Classic cabs are priced differently for Full Wraps and identically for Supersides. A campaign running across both fleets is quoted on the mix rather than on a single rate.

Availability

Taxi inventory is finite: a cab carrying one campaign cannot carry another. What is genuinely available for your dates affects both what we can offer and what it costs.

Campaign requirements

Anything beyond a standard fleet campaign — a planned activation, taxis at a specific place and time — is quoted separately, usually as private hire rather than as fleet advertising.

Private taxi hire

How much does private taxi hire cost?

A different service, priced differently. Private hire puts a taxi and driver at your disposal for a planned activation, charged by the hour.

About private taxi hire
From £95 + VATper taxi, per hour

Final pricing depends on the activation — the dates, timings, locations and number of taxis involved. We provide the taxi and the driver, and the vehicle works to an activation plan you have agreed with us in advance — which is the part a standard advertising campaign cannot do, since those taxis are part of the working London fleet.

Setting a budget

How to arrive at a number.

Four steps that get to a realistic figure faster than working forwards from a rate card.

Start from the objective, not the rate

Whether you need to be seen often or to be unmissable settles the format, and the format moves the budget more than any other single choice.

Use the guide rate to size the idea

The published rates are there to tell you roughly what a format costs. They are the right tool for working out whether an idea is in the right order of magnitude.

Then ask for a package

Once you know the shape of the campaign, ask us to price it properly. A planned package takes account of fleet size, duration, format and availability, and can be considerably more competitive than the per-taxi rate.

Bring your dates early

Availability is a real constraint — a cab carrying one campaign cannot carry another. The earlier we know your dates, the more of the fleet is genuinely open to you.

Production and creative

Where the money goes.

Printing and installation sit inside the rate. Creative does not.

Printing

Printing is included in the published rate rather than billed separately. Panels and wraps are printed on materials approved for licensed vehicles, which is a licensing requirement rather than a preference.

Installation

Installation is also included in the published rate. Fitting happens at approved depots and is scheduled around driver shifts, so a cab is off the road for as little time as possible.

Creative

You supply the creative. Artwork that survives at 30mph and at three metres is simpler than artwork designed for a page — one message, high contrast, a legible brand.

Frequently asked

Taxi advertising costs, answered.

How much does taxi advertising cost?

Published guide rates are £750 + VAT per taxi per 4 weeks for Taxi Supersides, with a minimum of 10 taxis per booking. A Classic Black Cab Full Wrap is £3,750 + VAT per taxi per 3 months, and a Premium Black Cab Full Wrap is £4,750 + VAT per taxi per month. Those are guide rates: most campaigns are planned as packages, priced against fleet size, duration, format, fleet mix and availability, and package pricing can be considerably more competitive than the per-taxi rate.

What is included in the rate?

Printing and installation are both included in the published rate, as is interior Tip Seat advertising on every Superside and Full Wrap campaign. Rates exclude VAT, and creating the artwork is not included — the design comes from you or your agency.

Are printing and installation included?

Yes. Published rates include both printing and installation, so there is no separate production invoice for getting the advertising onto the vehicle. Interior Tip Seat advertising is included too. What is not included is creating the artwork itself — the concept, copy and design come from you or from your agency — and VAT, which is added at the prevailing rate.

Are Full Wraps more expensive than Supersides?

Per cab, yes. A wrap covers the entire vehicle, which takes considerably more material and fitting time than a pair of side panels. The useful comparison is not the rate per cab but what a fixed budget buys: the same money puts more Supersides on the road, or fewer wrapped cabs with far more presence each.

How does package pricing work?

Most campaigns are not bought by multiplying the published per-taxi rate. We plan the campaign as a package and quote against it, taking account of the fleet size, the duration, the format, the mix of Premium and Classic vehicles and what is available for your dates. Package pricing can be considerably more competitive than the published rate, so the guide rates are best treated as a planning ceiling rather than a quote.

What is the minimum Superside booking?

Ten taxis per booking. There is no stated minimum for Full Wrap campaigns — wrap campaigns are typically smaller because each vehicle carries so much more presence — so tell us what you have in mind and we will tell you what is workable.

Is VAT included in the published rates?

No. Every rate shown on this site excludes VAT, which is added at the prevailing rate on invoice. The same applies to private taxi hire.

How much does private taxi hire cost?

From £95 + VAT per taxi per hour. That is a starting rate rather than a fixed quote — private hire is priced against the activation itself, including the dates, the timings, the locations and how many taxis are involved. It is a different service from fleet advertising: we provide the taxi and the driver, and the vehicle follows a plan agreed in advance.

How do I get a tailored campaign quote?

Tell us the city, the format you are considering, an approximate budget and your campaign dates. A range is enough for the budget. We come back with formats, availability for those dates and package pricing built around your actual campaign — which is usually more competitive than working from the published per-taxi rate. There is no portal and no login; a person reads the brief and replies within one working day.
